House of Winge

When theater director Stein Winge suddenly lost his wife Kari, his daughter Viktoria stepped in to help. A beautiful and close story about getting through grief.

There has always been a strong bond between Stein and Viktoria. Already as a five-year-old, she declared that she would look after him for the rest of her life, something that suddenly takes on new relevance. Kari was the vital force in the family, the glue that held everything together, both practically and socially. Viktoria has to deal with all the problems with Wingetunet, the family property which must now be sold. The family’s archive footage gives a unique picture of the life that was lived, and creates a contrast between the former energetic and life-affirming existence and the now mournful silence in the family yard. It is a close portrait of a family – of father and daughter, where the late Kari is constantly present. Through grief, new insights and conversations arise about art, life and death. An era is over.
