«You should only keep the number of animals you have time to look into the eyes of – each one of them, every day. Only then can you be sure they are all doing well.» This is a film about a homestead in Nordland County in Norway, being transferred to the next generation, from father to daughter.

Episode 1: Rakel moves home with her wife Ida, to take over the sheep farm from her parents. The very first day as a farmer presents major challenges

Episode 2: The lambing is underway. It offers joys and sorrows. The family works closely together and is on duty around the clock to take care of the animals.

Episode 3: Its summer.The sheep are going to the mountains and the haymaker is on his way. But in the midst of all the work, both the sheep and the bees escape.

Episode 4: Autumn is coming. The sheep must be collected and driven down from the mountains. Rakel worries about a lynx thats been observed apround the farm. The sheep, Ståle, gets an increasingly large place in the family.

Episode 5: One year has passed. The farm still requires a lot of work. And everyday life is still mostly about sheep. Rakel is developing her own breed of sheep.
